the middle east is really interesting and has various places.
In Israel you have for example the Golan Heights, where you can go hiking through the hills and mountains and where it's green and full of nature. I totally love it there!
Also I like the desert - a huge contrast to the mountains, but with it's own unique atmosphere and with nice calm spots and an endless landscape. Especially Mitzpe Ramon is a nice place! The small town offers not a lot, but great artsy shops and galleries. And you can hike to the crater of Mitzpe Ramon!
Tel Aviv is a vibrant city, while Jerusalem is more touristic with an amazing and unique atmosphere.
I've never been to a place like Jerusalem. The old buildings are really fascinating and the atmosphere is almost breathtaking.
So far my favorite places in Israel!
Of course you can feel the tension and you will always meet lots of Israeli soldiers in the streets, what feels pretty strange. Also when you enter shopping malls or central stations, you will have to show the security guard your bag. It's like a reminder of the conflict I always had the feeling.
Still, I feel very safe here. In Tel Aviv for example is it not present at all I have the feeling and people are great here and very open and cheerful!
Through my conversations with locals I figured also out that bomb attacks are really rare and almost impossible, because Israel has a high security. What can happen are shootings in the streets in places located close to Gaza or the West Bank.
I can recommend you to watch the news before going to be informed about the current situation, which always can change of course.
Right now and through the last months it's very calm here.
I've been also to Hebron, located on the West Bank in Jordan. I wrote an article about it, that you can read on my blog: https://www.femmefarang.com/single-post/2017/02/25/My-day-in-Hebron-Palestine
It was a great experience going there. There are lots of tours provided to places like Hebron, Petra or the whole Wets Bank. I think it's a very interesting insight into the conflict and the different conditions people are living here. Very important also to understand more about it.
While Israel is, as I said, quite safe at the moment, you can never know in Jordan. Hebron for example is quite a dangerous place. With a guided tour you are safer than going on your own for sure.
But of course that's also an option.
Two friends of mine (women) have also been to Iran for one month - if you want to figure out more about that, tell me and I will get in touch with them! They said it's a beautiful country but not that easy to travel as a woman.
If you have any more questions let me know! I'm happy to help!
